FuturoFund – Cultivating Philanthropy & Leadership in the Hispanic Community

11 03 2009

The blog title says it all! When I met with John-Michael Cortez, co-founder of FuturoFund I was intrigued & then inspired! John-Michael & I share the same vision for all Hispanics – to cultivate leadership within the Hispanic community.  We do believe there are Hispanic leaders in the greater Austin area but I believe there is a leadership gap & we need more.  I believe the FuturoFund is a great vehicle for developing community & philanthropic leaders in Austin.  I’m on board with their vision and I want more Hispanics and non-Hispanics to engage with them & support them in their efforts.  Their hosting a reception on Thursday.  I’ll be there & hope you will too!RBB Latino Professionals

I read with interst the article in the 11-27-09 issue of the Austin-Americn Statesman. What a worthy goal FuturoFund!!!!. Please call me at 152 312 0767. I might have an interest in becoming a member of being trained in ESL instructional techniques and/or joining FuturoFund. My wife and I are retired educators and can probably devote some time to this worthy cause. Perhaps Juan Castillo with the Statesman might do a follow-up article directed at retired teachers and invite them to get involved. They are out there and some my be willing to help out.

Thanks, Ernest

I am a recent retiree (retired August 30, 2009) from the Texas Department of Transporation, Traffic Safetey Office. I have worked on grants and contracts since 1993. Myself and the current San Antonio Traffic Safety Specialist (Contract Specialist), Ms. Linda Tomasini are interested in starting a non profit-agency called “Madrina-Padrino” which will use a faith based community outreach to Latinos on traffic safety and saving lives on Texas roads.
We would be interested in any information you can provide such as when will the RFP be coming out for 2010 funding and if this is something FuturoFund
