So in my down time I like to eat tacos, dress up in my Mariachi & find cool cultural events to attend. In my search for Cinco de Mayo events around town I found that the holiday isn’t just for Bud Light drinkers anymore. You can now eat the finest BBQ & fanciest tacos at the Cinco de Mayo Downtown Block Party, run a 5K Aztec Stylez, rub elbows with city officials at the Cinco City Hall celebration y mas! So this Cinco de Mayo, take your pick from the real Mexican to the Tejano to the BBQ! Nos vemos alli!

The free event is set to run from 5 to 10 p.m. on May 5th, 2009.
West 2nd between Guadalupe and San Antonio, complete with savory barbecue and popular Mexican street fare as well as live music, DJs, and a moonwalk.
Those who attend can catch live music from bands such as Charanga Cakewalk, Los Bad Apples, Cienfuegos, and the soulful grooves of DJ Chicken George. The two restaurants will serve a variety of tasty street treats including grilled corn on the cob, fresh tacos, barbecue sandwiches on fresh rolls, and snow cones. Beer and margaritas will be available from event sponsors Tecate, Dos Equis, Red Bull, and Cazadores Tequila. This neighborhood party is ideal for the whole family, with ample activities to enjoy including a Moonwalk for the kids-and the kids at heart. Area shops including Lofty Dog and Teuscher Chocolates will also participate in the festivities featuring special gifts, novelties, and sweets to go along with the fun.
